Wobbler syndrome is a disease in which the spinal cord and nerve roots are compressed in the area of the neck.

Wobbler's is commonly seen in large and giant breed dogs, in particular Dobermans and Great Danes.

Symptoms of Wobbler syndrome include limb weakness or even paralysis, difficulty rising after sitting or lying down, muscle loss through the shoulders, and worn nails from foot dragging.

Wobbler's is traditionally treated either medically with drugs and restricted activity and/or with surgery. The type of surgery depends on several factors, including whether the condition is caused by a disc-related problem or a bony malformation in the vertebral canal. A relatively new surgery for disc-associated Wobbler's is showing excellent results.

Physical rehabilitation is our first choice in treating Wobbler's patients, in conjunction with a variety of complimentary therapies.
